    Reconstitution protocol

    How to reconstitute a lyophilized peptide vial

    1. 1
      Bring the vial to room temperature
      Let the lyophilized vial equilibrate for 15–20 minutes so it isn't cold when the solvent contacts the cake.

      Measure the solvent
      Draw the volume of sterile solvent you entered above (bacteriostatic water is typical, commonly 1–3 mL) with a graduated syringe or pipette.

      Add slowly along the side wall
      Run the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial. Never jet it directly onto the lyophilized cake.

      Swirl — do not shake
      Gently swirl until the cake fully dissolves. Shaking shears fragile peptide sequences and can denature them.

      Store refrigerated and record the concentration
      Keep the reconstituted vial at 2–8 °C and label it with its mg/mL concentration and the date of reconstitution.
